People have asked us where the name Cryptexonline comes from.  It is a hybrid of two words that describe our service:

1. Cryptex - this came from Dan Brown's book the Da Vinci Code.  A cryptex is an encrypted box or chamber that contained information the people wanted to keep safe.  This is similar to our service.  Using the Cryptexonline software, you automatically encrypt your data with your passcode before it is sent to us for safe keeping on our secure servers.
2. Online - this is the methodology with which we operate ie. we use the internet to immediately transfer your data offsite so that if something happens to your data as a result of a natural disaster, a hardware failure, a software failure, a virus etc then we have your back.
